After the healers tended to his wounds, they sent him to an infirmary ward to rest. He received the best possible care due to Jing Hongchen’s concern over his well-being. Even his meals were far better than before. Although they still weren’t quite as good as Shrek Academy’s meals, he was well-nourished.

Even though he didn’t lose as much blood as last time, Huo Yuhao really was tired; he’d tried to make his act seem as real as possible. The medicine alleviated the stinging in his back, but it made him groggy, too.

After a while, the door slowly opened, and someone stepped inside. Huo Yuhao was, as always, on alert. He immediately activated his Spiritual Detection, but to his relief, it was just Ke Ke.

“Yuhao, Yuhao…” Ke Ke approached his bedside and called out to him.

Huo Yuhao was very fatigued by now, and besides, he had no desire to lie to Ke Ke, so he decided to simply pretend he was asleep.

“Those bastards from the Royal Stewards are too vicious!” Ke Ke muttered furiously to herself. “Look at all those bandages! He must be critically injured, but he hasn’t even recovered from his last injuries. I really want to castrate every last one of those Royal Stewards and teach them a lesson!”

Despite his amusement, Huo Yuhao held in his laughter. She’s very direct, not scheming at all. She’s a good woman.

Ke Ke lowered her head and placed her face in front of Huo Yuhao’s to look at him. She loosed a hot breath towards Huo Yuhao’s face, and he almost couldn’t hold it in anymore.

Ke Ke lifted her hand to touch Huo Yuhao’s hair. She sighed, “You’re a little too young. Otherwise, I might be interested in you.” As she spoke, she even pinched his face.

Huo Yuhao’s heart beat faster. What did she mean, ‘she might be interested in me…?’

Ke Ke was in a momentary daze, but before long, she realized Huo Yuhao wasn’t going to wake up, so she left silently.

Huo Yuhao nearly heaved a sigh of relief. He was afraid she’d continue to wait. Before Ke Ke showed up, he’d been just about to fall asleep; she’d jolted him awake.

However, before he could sink into slumber, the door swung back open.

Why did she come back? Huo Yuhao was a bit annoyed. However, he soon realized that something was amiss. The choked voice he heard didn’t belong to Ke Ke.

Someone stood beside him and caressed his hair. This only annoyed him even further. Why do they like touching my hair so much? How can they violate a man’s hair so easily?

“Yuhao, I’m sorry I hurt you. If I didn’t bring them to teach you a lesson, Wang Shaojie wouldn’t have done this. You only just recovered, but now you’re injured again. It’s all my fault….”

Warm tears landed on his face, but a tender, smooth hand wiped them dry soon after. His heart fluttered a little.

The sick beds weren’t overly large, and there wasn’t much space on his sides. Still, Ju Zi laid beside him, placed her head on his shoulders, and sobbed gently.
